Supplies Needed

All books and supplies should be in on the first day of school if possible, because we begin using things immediately. This will help your child be organized and not get behind or feel anxious. Don't forget to label everything! Books will stay in school.

This is the Supply List. One of my goals for fourth graders is to help them become organized, which helps them succeed in school and life. The way I have the set up their supplies will help with this goal.

I made an Amazon Supply List for many of the items on this list. You don't have to buy anything on the list, but you can see what I've selected, to give you a good idea of what I'm looking for. The ones I picked are the best, cost-wise (at least at the time). Most items on the supply list are here, but a few are not. You may buy supplies from anywhere. Please buy whatever is cheapest, as long as it fills the requirements.

For the ruler, get one with metric and inches (up to 1/16th of an inch is enough; notice the various sizes of the lines for inches: it's really confusing for students if the lines are all the same size; also it's best to get one that doesn't bend because it becomes inaccurate quickly): picture.

This is how to set up the binder, in this order. (Please make sure your child's name is on everything.):

Please do not clean out your child's binder or folders. I've heard many, "My mom threw it out," comments for things we still need. Only things in the "Goes Home" folder should get taken out of the binder. Everything else stays in the folders. All math work (homework, corrections to do, and homework and corrections that are done) stays in the green math folder. We will empty this folder as a class after chapter tests. Please do not keep any math homework at home until I tell the students it's time to clear out their folder. Bible, ELA, Science, Social Studies, and Stays at School folders do not ever go home. Zippered pencil pouch: goes into the binder and holds pencils, eraser, scissors, glue sticks, colored pencils (should be out of the box), earbuds (ruler and extra glue sticks shouldn't go in the binder)

Planner with a binder clip (planner is school-provided and might change; binder clip is optional)

Unique Home/School 3-hole punched folder

Unique Home/School 3-hole punched folder inside: Goes Home is labeled on the left side and Goes to School is labeled the right side; only things in the "Goes Home" part of this folder should go home and stay home

Green Math 3-hole punched folder: keep all homework and corrections (even if they are done) in this folder; we will empty it out as a class after each chapter test

Blue ELA notebook with a binder clip (do not number pages; binder clip is optional; if you can't get blue, get black): this will only go home if your child does not complete classwork on time

Red or Orange Science and Social Studies notebook (pages must be numbered- see below; if you can't get red or orange, get black): this never goes home
